It's Christmas (well nearly) and things in the UK seem to change when Christmas comes, prices for everything go up (like 30 percent xmas service charge in a fairly cheap all you can eat restaurant), the tube will be closed on the important days, its very odd. We wont be here to see it but I am lead to believe that London becomes somewhat of a ghost town. We have booked our tour around Europe and paid the deposit and I have booked my return trip to Australia in February.

I will be back for most of February. Freda unfortunately wont be joining me as school is still open at that time of year in Europe and she has already had a reasonable amount of time off outside of school holidays. I'm looking forward to seeing my friends and family as well as Troy's and Gwen's wedding. You can see my itinerary as it stands on the calendar I have setup which can be found on this calendar link.

It's been down to minus 5 degrees Celsius here which is a bit cool for someone from Australia and the days top out at around plus 5 by late afternoon. On the plus side we have had about a week of intermittent snow with two days of decent snowfall in central London.

This has caused London to come to a stand still, busses attempt to leave stations and do little but spin their wheels. Airports have been closed (causing Freda's flight from London to Dublin for xmas to be delayed by about 5 hours). In fairness she was lucky, other airlines cancelled all flights. I flew out two days later and they did delay the flight a few hours but as Connor was with me having a drink in the bar the time passed quickly, Not such a problem. These closures are predominantly for removing ice from the runway. Freda had originally wanted to go earlier but once I had confirmed I could come a little earlier than she expected she decided to fly with me. Unfortunately her grandmother passed away and as the funeral was before we were to be in  Ireland she went early. Our thoughts and love go to all her friends and family, she will be missed by many.
